This actually makes me so angry. It’s not fucking unfair, I ride my ass off and this is how I succeed. I’m not infinitely rich but we get by, I’m very lucky to have parents who support me. Talent is passion. If you try you can get there, sorry if you’re feeling sorry for yourself but please stop.
You need money for;
-accommodation (if needed)
-a good trainer
-your horse’s upkeep
-the horse itself though this is a once off payment.
If you don’t have money for any of this, it’s not a case of feeling sorry for yourself. It’s a case of physically not being able to make it big. I ride my ass off too, learn as much as I can, and I have a supportive parents but some weeks I go without basic supplies so I can enter a show or feed the horse.
There’s a serious difference between feeling sorry for yourself and not being able to afford it.
i work my ass off to be able to afford a lease. i don’t have enough money to make it in the equestrian world, and a lot of people can’t. if you look at the top riders, most of them have a shit ton of money and can afford nice horses and expensive tack and high-level trainers and coaches, but most of us can’t. i’m sure plenty of talented people have tried to get there, but financials will ALWAYS be an issue.
